Works for Me Wednesday: Kitchen Edition

This week Shannon over @ Rocks in My Dryer is hosting the Kitchen Edition of WFMW. She says:
Any flashes of kitchen brilliance you want to share with us? Appliance cleaning, pantry organization, ANYthing that makes your life smoother in the kitchen is welcome today.

Until just a few days ago, I had no clue what I was gonna post about. Then after reading this post I had a spark of genius.

I am forever printing out recipes to use/try in the kitchen. For the past few years, they have been put in a paper folder. While this has helped me keep ahold of them at all times, they aren't in the best shape.

So after seeing this, I thought, Why not do that with your recipes? Putting them in sleeve protectors will protect them from splashes, spills, dirty fingers... while also keeping them handy and accessible.

Now, I haven't started finished this project yet so I don't have any pictures to share.....mostly because this has inspired me to clean off my computer by printing the tons of recipes I have saved and get them organized.

Not only am I putting them in sleeve protectors then into a binder, I am getting the dividers and labeling them into groups (main dishes, drinks, desserts, appetizers, etc). I hope to be done with it by the end of this week and will try to remember and post pictures.

Have a clever idea you'd like to share with us? Run Click on over to Rocks in My Dryer and join in the fun!!!

I love using binders to organize, one of my tips today actually has to do with binders. Great minds think alike! ;) Thanks for sharing! =)

I soooo need to do this. For now, most of my recipes are crammed into a file folder.

I do this exact thing! It is so incredibly handy. Having a laptop helps too, although I am always leery of having it so close to my food prep area. (Having to shake crumbs out of the keyboard is never a good thing.)

I do the same thing! My "tried and true make them often" recipes I fold the recipe card in half and put them in baseball card sheet protectors in my binder, 9 to a page. Each page is for a different kind of meat so if I thawed out some ground beef I have a bunch of recipes I can make all organized.
My WFMW is my kitchen binder too.

This is a great idea! I do this myself, although I haven't gotten ALL of my recipes in a binder. I still have a recipe box with tons of recipe cards in it. ((sigh)) One day I'll become organized.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my WFMW stainless-steel ball whisks post. I sure appreciate it!

I hope you get one and try it out. I think you'll love it!

I did the same thing with my recipes last year. They are all in a binder, in plastic sleeves, and are organized by type. One more thing I want to try to do is to get all of my go-to recipes in the computer too, so they are easier to share via email/blogging/etc...

I have a cook book I have created with categories and page protectors. However, now I need to file away all the new recipes I have collected over the last few years.

Thanks for the motivation :) !!
